Celebrating our upcoming cassette release of DEW DROP WORLD from OLSON, we are putting on a wonderfully drone-fuelled Thursday evening of meditative high-focus drone music.
Get cosy with us at Gut Level’s current digs as we are guided by three acts through their various sound worlds, with visual support from our own projector enthusiast and button-enjoyer Zaron Mizmeras. We are super excited for this one!

💧 OLSON
Part of the Crend Request crew and with several EPs of euphoric rave and downtempo electronica on labels such as Audio Bambino and Reel Long Overdub, Olson is a DJ and producer based in Sheffield. In the new album Dew Drop World, he focuses deeper on beatless ambience through collages of manipulated and time-stretched samples, creating introspective ambient loops that are both vivid and emotive. Each piece is a reflection on the beauty of everyday life in all its ups and downs – an attempt to find balance between the joyous and the melancholy, and to find meaning through sound in the ever-shifting sands of experience.
Performing a production-only DJ set, Olson will be debuting unreleased material and music from the album to immerse listeners in oceans of sonic bliss.

💧 GRACEFUL DEGRADATION
A mainstay of Interworld events, Graceful Degradation has specially designed a series of evolving textures and soundscapes for this Drone Night. Influenced by the Curry–Howard equivalence in programming theory and the idea of transforming ideas/concepts across piecewise smooth manifolds, expect a series of minimal investigations into the fundamental nature of sound, harmony and rhythm through repetition and interference.

Matt Tate and James Starky will be guiding you through a melodic drone-based performance featuring huge pads, modular bleeps and bloops, regrettable amounts of reverb, and occasional patches of turbulence.

⚠️This event will contain loud music and flashing images. Earplugs will be on the door for your comfort.
⚠️Caution: this is a BEAT-FREE zone. Do not try to interfere with the drones as this could cause irreparable damage to the fabric of your surrounding “reality” and generally harsh the vibes. Rather than nodding your head, we recommend rotating it counter-clockwise in a steady fashion to ‘hone in’ on the intangible energy emanating from the speakers and projector screen.
